(Getting to Our Apartments in Nikiti and Hanioti from Thessaloniki Airport)

We offer several transportation options for visitors traveling from Thessaloniki airport to our apartments in Nikiti (on the Sithonia peninsula) and Hanioti (on the Kassandra peninsula).

The most popular methods are by bus, taxi, rental car, or pre-arranged transfer.

By Bus

The bus stop for Halkidiki is located near the Macedonia (Thessaloniki) airport where buses depart. To reach Halkidiki, purchase a ticket at the equipped booth next to the Meeting Point at the airport exit (Terminal 1). Take bus #79 to the IKEA stop, then transfer to OASTH buses #36, 36B, or 36Z, which go directly to the Halkidiki KTEL bus stop. In July-August, there is a direct bus #79A from Macedonia (Thessaloniki) airport to the Halkidiki Bus Station (KTEL).

At the Halkidiki Bus Station (KTEL), choose the desired route, buy a ticket at the ticket office, and go to the desired city in Halkidiki (Nikiti or Hanioti). You can check the route and schedule on the KTEL Chalkidikis website. For instance, buses from the KTEL Chalkidikis bus station to Sithonia (Nikiti) run three times a day, with one-way tickets costing approximately 20 Euros. It is closer and cheaper to travel to Kassandra (Hanioti) from Thessaloniki, with nine daily trips available at a price of around 10 Euros.

By Taxi

Traveling by taxi is the most convenient but also the most expensive way to reach your destination. Upon arrival at the airport, you can easily locate taxis waiting outside the exit. A trip to the main bus station, Halkidiki Bus Station (KTEL), is possible from the airport. This option is recommended for travelers with a large family or a considerable amount of luggage. From the bus station, you can transfer to a bus that will take you to your final destination. The cost of the taxi ride from the airport to the bus station ranges from 30 to 35 euros during the day, and the fare doubles at night. If you plan to take a taxi directly to your apartment, you can do so from the resorts of Halkidiki. However, the fare will not be reasonable and can cost up to 180-200 euros to Sithonia, depending on your destination. It is important to note that ride-hailing services such as Uber or Bolt are not operational in Greece.

Car Rental

Renting a car at Thessaloniki – Macedonia airport is the most convenient and hassle-free way to explore the beautiful peninsula of Halkidiki. However, due to the popularity of Greece as a tourist destination, we highly recommend booking your rental car at least a couple of months in advance. You can choose from both large global rental companies such as Hertz, Sixth, and others, as well as local providers. Please note that local providers usually offer only small cars, while international companies provide a wider range of more spacious and luxurious vehicles.

In 2021-2022, the rental cost for a car in Thessaloniki started at 25 euros per day (excluding insurance). Considering the vast number of interesting beaches and locations on Halkidiki, renting a car is the most obvious and preferred method of exploring the region, especially for those planning an active holiday in Greece. Apart from Halkidiki, visitors can also drive to the hallmark of Greece – the stunning monasteries of Meteora.

When renting a car, you can choose the pickup and drop-off locations, as well as the car class. A deposit ranging from 200 to 800 euros is usually blocked on the credit card, and we recommend having sufficient credit limit to avoid any inconvenience. At the end of the rental period, the deposit will be unblocked automatically without your involvement.

Renting a car in Thessaloniki is an excellent way to explore Halkidiki and beyond, providing you with the freedom and flexibility to discover this beautiful region at your own pace.
